Matilda Temperley is an award winning London based photographer. Whilst her commercial work at the moment is mainly fashion, Matilda’s personal work includes documenting contemporary British Circus. She is also working on a book about Tribal customs in Ethiopia. The series in Lost in Beauty was part of a larger project which was originally commissioned by the Roundhouse and supported by the Arts Council. The images are examining the freedom of expression in the circus and show the many different sides of the models circus life. Amongst her many other incarnations Katherine Arnold is a ropes, trapeze and silks artist, as well as a talented make up artist and dancer. Creative Director of the HOUSE OF BLUEEYES and super talented music industry stylist, JOHNNYBLUEEYES, will showcase and sell selected items from the unique and extensive archive of his life, travels and unseen world.

Featuring vintage garments, shoes and accessories

JOHNNYBLUEEYES shares, “Since I was a child all I ever wanted to do was dress up, up and more up! I have spent most of my life collecting beautiful treasures and as we travel into a hopeful 2010, it feels the right time to move these pieces onto others and have them appreciate and enjoy them as I have.

"Come and buy a treasure and send me your love, Ladies and Gentleman of London!”. Having been an extensive collector (and to be brutally honest, a happy shopoholic, in the truest sense of the word) of clothing, accessories and shoes - plus the odd piece of funked-out pop art – JOHHNYBLUEEYES is now ready to let others enjoy the items and send a little bit of love his way. Buyers can expect an array of treasures from unknown vintage pieces to labels including, Yves Saint Laurent, Lowes, Galliano, Gucci, Mickey Mouse, Fendi, Jean Paul Gaultier and Prada to name but a few.

22nd May 2009

It was on the last day of summer 2008 that Lost in Beauty was introduced to the Chancellor of The Last Tuesday Society, Mr Viktor Wynd. The departed leaves of summer fell slowly, through beams of evening sun from the trees of London Fields, bathing in the calm of autumns impending presence. Conversation weighed towards Victorian stuffed Parrots in coffins and other such rare and beautiful antiquities. It was here that we discovered a mutual appreciation for all things beautiful, dead or alive, and it was decided Lost in Beauty must be a part of The Last Tuesday Society’s illustrious Halloween Ball’s.

We pitched up a rather fetching tent surrounded by dead flowers and lost orphans from Viktor Wynd’s Little Shop of Horrors on October 30th  2008. Underground in the historic vaults of Parker McMillan - Barbican, and got to work on creating frightfully fabulous make-up in the form of hammer horror hotties, vampires and zombie’s, in our twisted Halloween take on a beauty salon.

On May 22nd this year we returned for Walpurgis Night – A Hendrick’s Halloween Ball Part I – Whilst creating make-up looks inspired by the opening lecture by Catharine Arnold’s Necropolis – we indulged in Viktor Wynd’s Famous Cheeseboard and Suzette Field’s Midnight Feast of Yesterday’s Cakes. All took place at the SeOne Club under the cavernous tunnels below London Bridge.

Halloween Part II October 30th looks to be an even bigger affair, to be held at The Troxy, an old 1930’s cinema on Commercial Road E1.  If you don’t already look Beautiful or Damned, you will once we’ve finished with you. Come and find us if you dare.

14th May 2009

Lost in Beauty celebrated its 1st Birthday on the 14th of May, and marked the occasion in style by throwing a decadent party, hosted by artist and friend, Johnny Blueeyes, to the sound of late night 70’s disco.

Guests were serenaded on arrival by Natalie Monroe singing the blues. The Broken Hearts and Jodie Harsh took to the technics thereafter and kept people on their feet (just about) all night.

Guests were asked to spend at least 2-3 hours getting ready for the party - glitter and decadence highly encouraged.

The evening also played host to a spectacular private view of photographs by Mary McCartney. Mary’s pictures captured the world of the backstage rituals of The House of Blueeyes Fashion Show during London Fashion Week this year, as well as Off Pointe – A rare Photographic Study of the Royal Ballet After Hours.

Johnny Blueeyes sent heads spinning with his street performance with Santa Gasolina, who roared up to the event on her motorbike, Johnny falling at her feet and sending gold glitter fluttering up Regents Park Road.

Guests were treated to pink champagne and the Lost in Beauty Finlandia cocktail – both pink coloured, to match the shop! Oooh Lou Lou’s cup cakes were the best we’ve ever tasted, accompanied by sumptuous canapés from Odette’s.

Guests who came included all our dear friends who have supported us along the way - journalists, artists, designers, locals, Mary McCartney, Johnny Blueeyes, Santa Gasolina, Pandemonia, Victoria Grant, and legendary club promoter of the new romantic era Philip Salon.

Everyone said they had such a great time, that we should do this more often…watch this space!
