Have you ever wondered how your skin compares to others of your own age?
Or how you might look in a few years' time, without some serious intervention?
Using powerful Visia imaging technology to capture information and assess common problem areas, such as sun damage, brown pigmentation blemishes, capillary damage, wrinkles, scars or imperfections and congested pores. This equipment is so advanced that plastic surgeons and dermatologists use it worldwide.
Our Environ specialist will be identifying goals for treatments and offering solutions to overcome niggling complexion concerns and take years off your appearance, without the need to go under the knife. The skin advisor recommends products for use at home, salon treatments as well as dietary and lifestyle advice, which are aimed at giving the individual clearer, more radiant, even toned, smoother and less lined skin.
The machine's camera provides a series of images which reveal the extent of each problem and attributes a score. Clients pay a return visit to the salon after three months, when improvements are graded by comparing a new set of visuals with the originals.
"There are too many empty promises in the beauty world," says Environ Founder Dr Des Fernandes. "By using this sophisticated system we can now prove to our clients that using active skincare products and following our advice makes a measurable and visible difference. We can even artificially 'age' your skin to show how you could look in five years without proper skincare."

'Lost in Beauty' has such a narrative that I wanted to create a piece of art on the shop front that mirrors that and allows customers/passers-by to experience a saturated visual image that will entice them into a mindset of all things beautiful and expresses the artistry of make-up. My work taps into the female psyche, as it exudes bright colour, floral and curvaceous patterns, glossy finishes and sparkling details.
Jennifer has created an abstract patterned mural weaved around the boutique's entrance which has recognisable elements, such as glossy lips, painted nails, dripping eyelashes using an array of colours that reflect the make-up palette as well as Jennifer's own personal favourite iconic beauty images.
Treat your Mum to an invaluable lesson on how to improve her make-up, learn new application techniques to achieve a more youthful & radiant look.
The session will involve 'Mum & Daughter' enjoying afternoon tea & cupcakes, whilst we delve into your make-up bags. Individual assessments are given, discussing skin & make-up routines, deciding on which aspects of your look you would most like to improve, be it eyes or overall day/evening make-up, we will then give you a step-by-step guide on how to achieve your desired look and teach you key tricks in achieving a beautiful new you. The perfect gift for a special mum.
£95 for 2 people includes tea & cupcakes. 90 minutes
(Usual price £65 per person)
'The effect of her imagery offers a thrilling disorientation with explicit reference to make-up in the slatherings of paint'
'There is something very 1960's about Martin's whimsical beauties'
We will soon be saying goodbye to Jennifer Martin's stunning paintings so if you've not seen her artwork come by and take a look, her work will be available to buy until the beginning of March.
Jennifer studied at Central St. Martins in London and has also completed a Bsc in Psychology and Neuroscience, an influence that could explain the knowing approach she takes to dismantling perceptions of popular imagery. Her paintings seem to 'bleed' a visual decay that reveals the materiality of the paint and the qualities of the corporeal, which is so often lost in airbrushed perfection.
The show entitled 'Retro Beauty' will exhibit recent works that Jennifer completed during her recent residency in Berlin. These paintings are a response to the vintage retro colour palette and trends commonly found around the city, taking her inspiration from 1960s and 70s wallpaper prints, magazine cuttings and flea market treasures.
Jennifer's work is most recognised for her artfully distraught beauty starlets using paint as a metaphor for make-up, revealing and creating blemishes in these untouchable idealised images.
Jennifer has a client base stretching from London to LA, having her first solo show with Raid Projects in LA, which attracted the likes of Samuel L Jackson and other Hollywood stars.
To celebrate the festive month of December (& our 'best beauty shop' award) we decided to throw a suitably glamourous party.... Walls were decked in Jennifer Martin's outstanding artwork. We drank Babicka Vodka & Heineken whilst the wonderful Slush Brothers provided yummy cocktails. We wore Victoria Grant neon hats with lashings of eyeliner... of course! & danced the night away to music by Norman Jay! Oh what fun we had!!

22nd May 2009
It was on the last day of summer 2008 that Lost in Beauty was introduced to the Chancellor of The Last Tuesday Society, Mr Viktor Wynd. The departed leaves of summer fell slowly, through beams of evening sun from the trees of London Fields, bathing in the calm of autumns impending presence. Conversation weighed towards Victorian stuffed Parrots in coffins and other such rare and beautiful antiquities. It was here that we discovered a mutual appreciation for all things beautiful, dead or alive, and it was decided Lost in Beauty must be a part of The Last Tuesday Society’s illustrious Halloween Ball’s.
We pitched up a rather fetching tent surrounded by dead flowers and lost orphans from Viktor Wynd’s Little Shop of Horrors on October 30th 2008. Underground in the historic vaults of Parker McMillan - Barbican, and got to work on creating frightfully fabulous make-up in the form of hammer horror hotties, vampires and zombie’s, in our twisted Halloween take on a beauty salon.
On May 22nd this year we returned for Walpurgis Night – A Hendrick’s Halloween Ball Part I – Whilst creating make-up looks inspired by the opening lecture by Catharine Arnold’s Necropolis – we indulged in Viktor Wynd’s Famous Cheeseboard and Suzette Field’s Midnight Feast of Yesterday’s Cakes. All took place at the SeOne Club under the cavernous tunnels below London Bridge.
Halloween Part II October 30th looks to be an even bigger affair, to be held at The Troxy, an old 1930’s cinema on Commercial Road E1. If you don’t already look Beautiful or Damned, you will once we’ve finished with you. Come and find us if you dare.
14th May 2009
Lost in Beauty celebrated its 1st Birthday on the 14th of May, and marked the occasion in style by throwing a decadent party, hosted by artist and friend, Johnny Blueeyes, to the sound of late night 70’s disco.
Guests were serenaded on arrival by Natalie Monroe singing the blues. The Broken Hearts and Jodie Harsh took to the technics thereafter and kept people on their feet (just about) all night.
Guests were asked to spend at least 2-3 hours getting ready for the party - glitter and decadence highly encouraged.
The evening also played host to a spectacular private view of photographs by Mary McCartney. Mary’s pictures captured the world of the backstage rituals of The House of Blueeyes Fashion Show during London Fashion Week this year, as well as Off Pointe – A rare Photographic Study of the Royal Ballet After Hours.
Johnny Blueeyes sent heads spinning with his street performance with Santa Gasolina, who roared up to the event on her motorbike, Johnny falling at her feet and sending gold glitter fluttering up Regents Park Road.
Guests were treated to pink champagne and the Lost in Beauty Finlandia cocktail – both pink coloured, to match the shop! Oooh Lou Lou’s cup cakes were the best we’ve ever tasted, accompanied by sumptuous canapés from Odette’s.
Guests who came included all our dear friends who have supported us along the way - journalists, artists, designers, locals, Mary McCartney, Johnny Blueeyes, Santa Gasolina, Pandemonia, Victoria Grant, and legendary club promoter of the new romantic era Philip Salon.
Everyone said they had such a great time, that we should do this more often…watch this space!
